IDC was commissioned to design Mocha in 2005 at IIM Road, Ahmedabad. On the prime road of IIM stood a small restaurant with a ground floor cabin structure which had to be converted into a vibrant cafe signifying youth. By changing the cabin to a rustic bungalow, we added the necessary floor plate while adding character to the otherwise dull property. The use of margins was the USP of the entire property. Small pockets for groups of 4 to 10 was designed by playing with the ground level. None of the trees were cut, the design was made to revolve around the existing site context and the trees were the focal point in each area. Cement floor along with bright colours made the property the youth magnet.
